"SAUCE”
My name is José Gabriel, a creative idea-guy from Puerto Rico working in the marketing industry. By now you should probably be asking yourself why the “saucier” stuff. Well, even though I’m no chef, Im an avid foodie and in French cousine, a saucier is a position in the classical brigade–style kitchen. It can be translated to English as sauce cook. Anyway, what does this have to do with marketing?
Glad you asked.
In advertising, marketing, or basically any service field, clients bring us problems, we offer them solutions. In restaurants, clients bring their hunger and chefs offer them food. Simple enough. Eventually, people get tired of the same plates, so chefs need to get creative to keep their clients happy, engaged, and coming back for more. So what does the poor chef do? For one, he can call this guy. As a “saucier”, my job is to take that bland, old steak and make it the center of attention. Create that SAUCE that brings new, bold flavors: be it salty, sweet, savory, acidic, you name it, I make it.
In other non-foodie related words, I solve problems; creatively.
A curious person by nature, I identified myself with a “saucier” because he needs to know a little about everything. He has the job of identifying flavors that are lacking, search for the missing ingredients, and finally blending them in perfect harmony to get that “OMFG” moment on the first try. The same strategy applies in marketing. We have to be constantly learning, asking, reading, and digging… because every little bit of information can help spark the next big idea.
