Objective: Create logo and concept for a branding and design startup
Piragüita, was born by fun & necessity. It all started in highschool with a friend of mine, joking around in microsoft paint, later making t-shirts for festivals in Puerto Rico. We then realized that there where no actual brands that cattered to the youg Puerto Rico demographic, with fun and vibrant designs. Before we knew it, we had amassed a group of “fans” (actually just loyal friends) who wanted us to keep designing and acutally make a clothing brand. We gave it a try, but realized it is a lot harder than it looks. So anyway, it turned out fine, as we sidetracked and turned into a branding and design “company”.
The logo concept was made looking into our culture. We studied our heritage and found something that anyone could relate to and could easily identify. The “piragüa” is a shaved ice cone, dripped with any kind of flavored syrup that is sold out of carts all around Puerto Rico. To give it a spin, we took the pencil as the design element which substitutes what would usually be the straw.
It’s a fun, vibrant, playfull design made with a lot of love as the slogan said “donde todo diseño, se raspa al momento”, “where every design, is shaved at the moment.”
